Do you know how to make a light painting?

I made this light painting of our company's logo "ZIC" last night, with a LONEN flashlight and SLR camera (Single Lens Reflex). The light drawing is very splendid and gorgeous, full of imagination, just like fireworks or lightning displayed in the sky at midnight. Now I will talk about how I made this.

Firstly, it is better to be done by several people that cooperate with one another. One to handle the camera, the rest to do the drawing. Choose a dark place or at night, so that the light and shadow effect is obvious.

Secondly, Keep your camera motionless by using a sturdy tripod and a shutter release cord. Then set the camera to M(manual) operation and set the shutter speed to "B". In this way there will be enough time of exposure left for you to draw what you want. Use small aperture, f8-16 is ok, for this helps getting a clearer focus. Set the ISO to a low level, like 100. Finally, using multiple exposures that will make your light painting more vivid.

Now find a small LED bulb as lighting source. If you don't have one, use a flashlight instead. Try out different shapes in the dark space with the LED bulb or flashlight. Note that you have to paint along the trace of light repeatedly to make the light beam brighter and thicker. In addtion, the shape you draw will be left and right reversed in the image, so don't forget to reverse the picture. Or you can draw in a reversed way, if it is not difficult for you.
